Speak up. Be assertive. Why? When it is you that is targeted, there will nobody left to help!

There have been many reports about what goes on in other countries. Some think ‘we’ should intervene & others think we should stay out of it! That’s out of our control in many ways when the issue occurs e.g. the war in the Gulf. I guess we can change things later, when/if you vote during the election.

But what about what YOU can do? Issues at work? In the family? Can you make a difference?

I often speak up when I perceive an injustice. This is often difficult and involves taking risks, being an outcast (hopefully not for long! :) ) but most importantly it can be rewarding, inspiring and create positive changes.

It doesn’t affect me!

They came first for the communists,
And I didn’t speak up because I was not a communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
And I did not speak up because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Trade Unions,
And I did not speak up because I was not a trade unionist,

Then they came for the Catholics,
And I did not speak up because I was a Protestant,

Then they came for me,
And by that time no one was left to speak up.
